The successor to the Samsung Galaxy S10 is officially launched under the name Galaxy S20 with three models, namely the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus and Galaxy S20 Ultra. Taufiqul Furqon, Samsung Mobile Product Manager at Samsung Electronics Indonesia explained the reason why it did not continue to become the Galaxy S11.
According to him, this year is entering a new decade, that is the reason Samsung uses the name of the new series. “Because we expect that in this new decade there are a number of things that we focus on, namely 5G, AI and IoT, that’s the reason. So the name is new, “said Taufiq at the Rafles Hotel, South Jakarta, Wednesday, February 12, 2020.
As is known that Samsung usually launches the Galaxy S series by continuing the numbers from the previous generation. Starting from the Galaxy S1, Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S10 which were launched last year.
For the continued series of Galaxy S20, Taufiq still doesn’t know the plan. “For the next Galaxy S30 or whatever we still don’t know. Just wait, “said Taufiq.
Samsung Electronics Indonesia Samsung Mobile Product Manager Verry Octavianus Wijaya explained that although the serial name did not continue the previous generation, basically the Galaxy S20 is the successor to the Galaxy S10.
“So if we look at the current line-up, right, if S20 continues S10, S20 Plus continues S10 Plus, while S20 Ultra actually continues if there is S10 Plus 5G abroad, but in Indonesia it can’t yet. It means that the S20 Ultra is new in Indonesia, “Verry said.
Why is called Ultra, Verry continued, because in terms of large screens and equipped with relatively new technology. “Indeed, its features are super sophisticated compared to competitors. So the Ultra variant is a new model made in Indonesia, “he added. “But the Galaxy S20 Ultra model in Indonesia is still 4G.”
In Indonesia, the Galaxy S20 is valued at Rp 12,999 million and the Galaxy S20 Plus is Rp 14,499 million, both of which have 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. While the Galaxy S20 Ultra with 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory costs Rp.18,499 million.
The Galaxy S20 trio can already be ordered both online and offline in several market places and outlets in collaboration with Samsung, starting on February 12-23, 2019, with the unit obtained on March 5, 2020.
