The world of video games is shrouded in sorrow. The creator of the Konami game cheat code, Kazuhisa Hashimoto, was reported to have died at the age of 61 on Tuesday (25/2).
The news of Hashimoto’s death was confirmed by Konami through his tweet on their official Twitter account. Konami said, the man who was born on November 15, 1958 was a talented producer.
“We are saddened to hear of the death of Kazuhisa Hashimoto, a very talented producer who first introduced the world to the” Konami Code “,” he wrote.
Hashimoto was a famous game programmer who created Konami Code. Code consisting of ↑ ↓ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → B, A, Start was originally created to facilitate running the game or known as cheats.
The Konami game cheat code first appeared in the Gradius game which can be played on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) console in 1986. The code opens players access to a number of powers, making it easier to play the game.
Hashimoto originally made this cheat code because he felt the Gradius game was too difficult to play during its development. Then, he thought of creating a special code to make it easier.
In addition to Gradius, Konami Code was also applied to the phenomenal game Contra which was released on the NES console in 1988. This code gives players 30 additional lives to continue the game. This is where Konami Code gained its popularity and is known by many gamers.
This ‘cheat’ code journey continues into other Konami games, such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project, Dance Dance Revolution series, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadows.
This code has also been used in games outside of Konami, such as Mario Party, BioShock Infinite, and Borderlands 2, as well as the more recent Anthem game. Konami Code can also be applied in the Fortnite game before Chapter 2. When players enter Konami Code, they will find the Space Invaders mini-game for a limited time.
At least at this time, according to Wikipedia entries, there are about 100 Konami games and more than 22 games from other developers using Konami Code. This code has also been developed, which was originally just to simplify the game or cheat, to be a way to find easter eggs or ‘treasure’ hidden in the game.
